Is almost complete! (I told you I was going to get it done ASAP). Just waiting on 2 reference letters, Brent's employment verification, and a notary to figure out how they might be able to notarize our birth certificates and marriage licenses (which seems to be illegal in California).
The last item might end up being our hang up on this step, but I don't think it will be too big of a hurdle. Luckily, a woman that works at the City has taken it upon herself to figure it out for me (she's a notary) in exchange for my promise to bring the kiddos by the office to meet everyone once they're home. Seems fair to me!
We also mailed our 1-600A application today. This is the application that will eventually allow us to gain approval from the Federal Government to bring an orphaned child (or children) into the country. It is sort of an intermediary (or maybe parallel) step between the home study and the dossier.
Oh, and the most important information of all - we can be considered for waiting children now that our home study is approved, which might not mean anything or might be pretty exciting...
This blog was created to chronicle our journey towards parenthood through Ethiopian adoption. Now that our kids are home it serves as a space to explore and record life as a family of four. If you feel compelled, read along as we work to create the Perfect Space for our family.
"I wanna have friends that I can trust, that love me for the man I’ve become not the man I was. I wanna have friends that will let me be all alone when being alone is all that I need. I wanna fit in to the perfect space, feel natural and safe in a volatile place."
