On this Mother's Day weekend my heart is bursting with love for Elsa and Ashagre. As our 3 month family anniversary sits on the horizon, I feel like we've started to really find our groove (I can't wait to see how things feel at 6 months or 1 year). A & E continue to open up, grow, and share more of themselves with us and it feels SO good.
I am also learning that as an adoptive momma Mother's Day is overshadowed by a bittersweet sense of gratefulness for the kids' first moms. This weekend I hold these two women close to my heart. I truly wish that they were standing in my shoes basking in the radiance of two amazing smiles - even if it meant that I couldn't be.
This blog was created to chronicle our journey towards parenthood through Ethiopian adoption. Now that our kids are home it serves as a space to explore and record life as a family of four. If you feel compelled, read along as we work to create the Perfect Space for our family.
"I wanna have friends that I can trust, that love me for the man I’ve become not the man I was. I wanna have friends that will let me be all alone when being alone is all that I need. I wanna fit in to the perfect space, feel natural and safe in a volatile place."
