All went well at the Embassy today. The kids are all ours (legally they have been for a while, but now the US recognizes it too). The kids should be clear to travel to the United States, and we expect to have their passports with their visas tomorrow morning. We depart Ethiopia around 7:30 tomorrow night and are scheduled to land in L.A. at around 7:45 Friday morning.
I'm still pretty nervous about the flight home in terms of keeping the kids sane in such a small space, but we just have to do it. The reward is too sweet on the other side.
We owe many of you phone calls when we get back Stateside. I think I'll let Brent drive home (even though I hate being his passenger in L.A. traffic), and I'll start making some phone calls. Any positive vibes you can still muster for a smooth and scream-free flight home would be much appreciated!
This blog was created to chronicle our journey towards parenthood through Ethiopian adoption. Now that our kids are home it serves as a space to explore and record life as a family of four. If you feel compelled, read along as we work to create the Perfect Space for our family.
"I wanna have friends that I can trust, that love me for the man I’ve become not the man I was. I wanna have friends that will let me be all alone when being alone is all that I need. I wanna fit in to the perfect space, feel natural and safe in a volatile place."
