...week spent with Grandma and Grandpa!
From about age six on my brother and I always spent one to two weeks at our Grandma's house in northern California. It was a huge treat for us (two small town Idaho kiddos) to live it up in California with our Grandma, Aunts, and Uncle (I mean, they had a pool!). It was with them that I became a strong swimmer, learned how to wakeboard, tamed feral barn kittens, and woke up in the middle of the night while sleeping on my Uncle's pontoon boat to help him reel in and clean a catfish or two. Summer wasn't summer unless we spent at least a week at our Grandma's house.
Ashagre and Elsa probably aren't quite ready to be shipped off to Idaho (yep reverse direction of my childhood) for the summer, but they have been soaking up Grandma and Grandpa Corey's love, affection, and undivided attention this week. They've flown kites, went to the movies, went on a shopping spree, rode the train for the first time, and visited the Sea Center in addition to tons of time reading, "helping" Grandma with the dishes, playing at the park, and decorating our driveway with beautiful chalk art. I'm pretty certain when they think back to their childhoods as adults, summer weeks with Grandma and Grandpa will be an integral highlight of their memories.

| More oysters! |
| You can't get fresh oysters in Idaho. |
| Ashagre's first oyster - a little nervous. |
| He loved them and ate many, many more that night. |
Not to be outdone, Elsa decided she like them too
even if her face doesn't say so in this shot. |
First train ride - a day trip to Santa Barbara. Compared
to the plane, Ashagre thought the train ride was second
class - no snacks, no in-train entertainment... |
| Elsa loved petting the horn shark. |
What fun!! Time spent with grandparents is the best!!
